Due to recent public comments, discussions, and media coverage, the Utah Valley Chamber of Commerce wishes to make clear it condemns all actions and communications that are bigoted, racist, and attack any group of people. Such hateful actions are not welcome in our business community. They reflect a disconnect and utter misalignment with the values and principles that are foundational to the fabric of our community’s history and culture. The Chamber reiterates its focus on inclusion, diversity, equity and belonging and believes our institutions, businesses and communities are stronger and better with the contributions of people of various backgrounds, thoughts, and cultures.
Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging are, and have always been, essential priorities for the Utah Valley Chamber of Commerce. With these efforts, led by Hema Heimuli, Chair of the Chamber’s Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging initiative, the Chamber’s goal is to create shared prosperity (businesses and employees) by empowering leaders to deliberately design environments that enable their people to reach their full potential. To achieve this end, we believe businesses must intentionally create a culture that expand perspectives, increase representation, and support all backgrounds in the business community with a focus on creating supporting environments that have a variety of beliefs and backgrounds.
